Technology illustrationContinuum St. Louis Helps Seniors Maintain Independence With Senior Care Technology

Nearly 90 percent of seniors are choosing to age in place, as opposed to moving into an assisted living or nursing care facility, and technology is making at home senior care easier and safer than ever before. Continuum’s St. Louis home care team is proud to offer the following independence-enhancing elder care assistance products to our clients:

For the times when an in home caregiver is not present, Continuum’s Personal Emergency Response System eliminates the anxiety of falling or having a medical emergency without anyone knowing, and gives seniors peace of mind knowing help is always within reach. With our Personal Emergency Response System, seniors benefit from:

  • Fast access to help, 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Having a neighbor check in for non-emergency situations
  • Ability to dispatch an ambulance when necessary
  • Being able to notify a family member of their situation
  • A convenient emergency button that can be worn as a pendant or wristband
  • No long-term contract required

Electronic Medication Dispenser

Approximately 30% of hospital admissions for people over the age of 65 are directly attributable to medication non-adherence. Continuum’s St. Louis home care experts offer the ideal solution to help seniors who are having trouble remembering to take medications. Our electronic medication dispensers automatically remind seniors to take medicine at pre-set times and even dispense the correct dosages, allowing for peace of mind and continued independence. Our medication dispensers can:

  • Provide reminders up to six times a day
  • Hold up to 60 doses of medications
  • Sound an alarm when a dose is ready to be taken
  • Alert our 24-hour Care Center if a dose is missed so they can call to remind the senior; if there is no answer, the Care Center will notify a family member or friend
  • Keep medications secure under lock and key until time for a dose
